My science class is doing an egg drop contest. We are goin to drop egg from about 10 feet up. You HAVE to use only these materials:
15 straws 15 rubber bands
15 popsicle sticks 1 meter of string
1 sheet of copy paper 1 meter of tape
10 paper clips 1 raw egg

And if its light I get bonus points.
Can somebody help tell me how to build on of these egg drop thingys so it wont't break

First you need a nice sturdy box frame, so use 12 straws to build an octahedron, use the string to tightly tie off the vertices. What's even better is to use 6 popicle sticks at the corners so that they stick out. The octahedron is ideal because there's good space between its center and any of its faces, and it won't deform as easily as a cube. Tie a string between each pair of vertices, with no slack. This makes the octahedron sturdy, and allows for mounting of the egg at the center. Crumple the copy paper with the egg in it, then fasten this to the intersection of the strings at the center with tape, making sure the egg won't fall out. Then, finally, run rubber bands from each of the vertices of the octahedron to the crumpled paper center, using whatever tape or string you got left, so that the center mass has some springiness to keep it centered. When this spiky octahedron hits the ground, first the popicle sticks will absorb the impact, and then the octohedron frame will further absorb the impact, followed by the rubber bands and strings holding the center mass, and finally the crumpled paper will absorb whatever is left of the original kinetic energy. Get the average weight of an egg, find the force that it will hit the ground, F=ma. Then you will know how much force you will need to absorb to keep the egg from breaking. Think of a 'crumple zone' of a car. The front end of a car is designed to collapse to absorb the forces in order to keep the passengers safe. On a race car, if they hit a wall going 200 mph, the car almost completely disintegrates, but the driver walks away. The body of the car absorbs the impact.
Unless it has to be reusable for multiple drops. Then you would have to construct something like a 'pillow' wrapped around the egg. Something that will absorb the force of the egg internally - like a heavy duty box that eggs come in.

make a honeycomb structure with the all the materials given. The paper and straws should be on top to absorb the force of the drop.

go to discovery.com they did something similer to this on mythbusters the 2 hosts had completely different approaches to the problem but both succedded in dropping the egg and it not breaking
