What car/truck should I buy with $5000?

I am getting my new car and I was wondering what car or small truck I should buy. I was thinking about getting either a Ford Ranger or a Chevy S10. In a car I don't know what to get. Please dont mention horrible looking cars. I want something around the late 90s or possible early 21st century (2000s). Im 19, what should I buy?

if i buy a truck it is going to be used to come back and from college which is 2 hours away. And i have seen a S10 and Ranger for that range of money.

I am driving my third Ford Ranger.
I looked at S10 when i got this one but I liked the
seats in the ranger a little better.

You can get parts or accessories for either,
they can be fixed by anybody, you would do well
with either.

Some suggestions:

buy a truck for $4000. When you buy an older used vehicle, figure on needing a another $1000 to bring it to normal condition (new tires, brakes, in my case it needed a new clutch).

I bought a 10 year old chevy s10. Toyotas are probably more reliable, but a bit more pricy. I've had another s10 in the past that was also very reliable.

What are you exactly are you looking for? Sounds like your interested in trucks, what will you use it for? Daily driver? work truck? do you want to lower it or lift it? I dont think you'll be able to get a truck that new for that cheap
