big rig engines last a long time reason being is look who drives them class A who do 65 mph on the freeway, they dont abuse them and they keep the maintanence up on them beacuse they cant afford to lose their engine. Big rig engines usually last anywhere from 500,000 miles to two million miles, and another major factor in life span is they only rev about 2500 rpms, and come on that is what people dont get about cars hondas are good cars don't get me wrong but not if it revs at 7000 rpm's everywhere you go, and plus big rig engines are built a whole lot stronger than any other engine.

Big rigs can last for hundreds or thousands of miles some of them even have over a million miles on them the reason is because its cheaper to keep rebuilding the drive trains and suspension systems over and over again.
I now this because I asked the delivery guy for my job the same question and this is what he told me.

they do now no longer diploma the lifespan of any airplane in distance flown, yet via potential of hours of operation. yet different areas of the time-honored airplane have different lifespans. The engines for example have a shorter lifespan, than the airframe. Plus the lifespan of an airframe is extra desperate economically than it fairly is via potential of the hours. each airplane has a TBO (Time between overhaul) it fairly is desperate via potential of the producer. mutually as a advertisement airplane is going in for an overhaul it fairly is definitely rebuilt from ideal to backside. this may well be accomplished countless situations over the completed lifespan of the airplane till at last the owners, or operators of the airplane come to a decision that it could make extra ideal financial adventure to alter the airplane with a sparkling one.

Rigs can last for millions of miles, as long as you do your preventative maintenance every 15,000 miles. Caterpillar and Detroit Diesel engines tend to last the longest. I know a couple of owner operators for schneider national who have run detroit diesel series 60s in their freightliner classics for over 2 million miles without an overhaul.

My husband had a Kenworth for 10-15 years and it just depends on how you take care of it. As you can see, he had his for many years. The only reason he had to get another truck was because he ended up getting some bad fuel and it messed everything up. If that had not happened, he would still have it. You need to do preventative maintenance just as you would on a car to keep it running at it's best.
