See my friend, religion is not like a football team or a political party... us vrs. them.

Religion is a vision to help us realize we are all one family under God.

I say you can't join my religion because I already consider you a member.

The tendency of the materially conditioned mind is to hanker after distinction. We want to differentiate ourselves and see ourselves as unique and different, like a couple embracing in Lover's Park. They think they are the only two people in love in the universe, yet if they look over their shoulder they will see 100 other couples doing the exact same thing they are doing.

When you do an impartial evaluation of all the major world religions you won't find much essential difference between them. They basically follow the same principles, yet differ in the details.

We should not get hung up on details but should see the essence. Every religion has value because it instills values within its followers to respect others, love, tolerate...

You make a very good doint with your question, and with your first line about "us versus them". You are right. Religion is not about that. At least, true Christianity isn't.
On the other hand there is such a thing as objective truth inSpiritual things. I can't say that my shirt is blue, but if you say my shirt is red, you are just as right as I am. The religions of the world do not basically follow all the same principles.
But that does not mean that we should be in competition, or in the business of bashing other religions. In that I agree with you. In fact you put it very well.
