Definitely! Tell him how you feel about him but dont write a love poem, that would freak him out. Or tell him in person if he comes up to you. Tell/write to him:"I've known you for a while now. I've seen how you acted and all and i like you more than a friend."

If your shy and the boy you like knows that then yes i would... But it might mean alot more if you just told him straight to his face... It Show courge and that you'd take a risk if you had to... and you not afraid to say how you feel...
