I have a weird suggestion for you:
Obtain a piece of jewelry. Either buy it yourself, or pick something he gave to you (not your wedding ring), and send it to him. Instruct him that it is his duty to bring the jewelry back to you in person, and that he must do this. If he succeeds, he is rewarded with the ultimate gift: the presence of his loving wife.
It's out of the box, but it's about all I can think of... sorry...

The biggest atomic bomb that you can afford! That is the only thing that will bring a quick and decisive end to all the hatred that goes on in the middle east. As a friend who fought in the some of the middle eastern armies put it...the only way a resolution will come is by rounding everyone up and dropping a big bomb on all of them!

I think a scrapbook would be a wonderful idea and tucked in the front page a calling card so that he can call home when he can on the holidays.
When you are thousands of miles away, written words and photos I would think more valuable then gold. If you have children have them handmake him Christmas Cards...
And if you want to minimize what he actually has to carry around.. you could burn a digital scrapbook to CD with music and send it to him.
I guarantee you he would be the envy of his squad.. platoon etc.
You and your Husband and Family are in my prayers.
God Bless you both and Keep you safe in your sacrifice for all of us.

action picture DVD's. He ought to savor staring on the hot releases whilst he has a while "off." I plan on paying for and mailing them to my son who became at present deployed in early Oct 2006.
