Okay, I'm trying to lose weight and want some excuses to say no when my friends offer me alcohol without seeming like a prude. Everybody knows that I like alcohol but I don't want to drink it anymore because not only does it come from sugar, when I drink it makes me weaker in saying no to greasy and sugary foods. So what are some excuses I can say for not drinking?

But I don't want them to know I want to lose weight because I've got a few sabotager friends (even though I love them) that will try especially hard to tempt me with bad food if they know I'm trying to lose weight.
And dating a religious "girl"? I'm a straight girl, not a guy or a lesbian...

1. Tell then you are on a medication that says no alcohol
2. Tell them it is a dare that you will go to the bar with friends and not drink a drop of alcohol.
3. Get a non-alcoholic beer or something like that.
4. Tell them you are trying to get pregnant ( if you are a girl, of course)

Feel them the truth, they should undersand if theyre your friends. If not, because I know it happens. Tell them you're on new meds, or you found out alcohalism runs in your family, and right now you're a little shaken up about it because its really affected alot of your family seriously, and you need some chill time to decide what you want to do about it. Good luck with the dieting =] also gymin it helps SO much, and it feels awesome. Along with yoga, kick boxing and pilates =P

Claim to be a Mormom or a Muslim. Claim to be a recovering alcoholic. Claim to be training for a triathlon or a bodybuilding contest. Claim to be a paid member of a control group in a university study of the effects of alcohol on weight loss, claim you have a new love interest who won't kiss you if there is alcohol on your breath, claim to know someone who got a DWI and you don't want that to happen to you,

3. I'm in a very serious commitment, right now, with a religious girl, and promised her that I wouldn't drink.

My friends dad woke up one morning and couldn't go to the bathroom. A week later he found out his liver was shutting down. He was hospitalized for a few weeks then sent home with a year to live. He died the next day.. He went from being 'fine' to dead in one months time. He was 39. You don't have to be old to die of liver failure from drinking. Not to mention heart disease. Just stop drinking and do your self a favor. Your motivation? LIFE!

Tell them the truth, they're your friends just tell them why. If not, you're pregnant, you got wasted at breakfast. you still have a hangover from last night. or like the other guy said the alcohol may interfere with some medication.

Say you need a break from it, and then only drink with them some of the time. Say that it makes you feel sick the next day so you don't feel like having a hangover.

Telll them that it gives you a headache. My husband cannot drink red wine or most other alcoholic drinks for that reason. Or you can just say flat out that you would rather get your calories from other sources.

Why do you need an excuse? Tell them you are trying to lose weight.
