As others have suggested Crab season is over. a large variety of the places alongside the wharf section are overpriced and not very solid. listed here are a pair techniques no longer on the wharf Swans Oyster Depot and Crustation close to Polk and California.

Frederick MD and Antietam (also in MD) are great for Civil War sightseeing. Also, Gettysburg, in PA, is surprisingly close.
I concur that Harper's Ferry in WV is a great choice.

Historic sites: um i believe there is an edgar allen poe exhibit in virginia...
busch gardens is a fun place to go to.

willamsburg is nice anywhere in dc you can spend weeks there its all free. try the national zoo its the best. in west va the moutains are the same as the one in va. i dont think theres much to see there
