I have a sharp,shooting pain on my left side right above my hip bone an I'd like to know if anyone can tell me what organ is in that location an if I should get it checked out

Your decending colon (one of the last areas where excrement passes) and small intestines are coiled in that area. If the pain is deep, it could be a hernia. This is not lethal but a visit to a doctor would be in order.

It could also be that you have a bit of constipation (difficulty with a bolus of large, firm waste passing). Drink more liquids and if you have a bowel movement and feel better, then you probably don't have a hernia.

If you have a sharp, shooting pain - it needs to be looked at by a doctor.

i dont think sharp pains indicated organ damage. If you skin turns yellow and you start vomiting, that is a better sign
