I have a meeting with someone who makes custom invitations tomorrow. What are some questions, other than price, should I ask about her services? This is the first person I am meeting with and am unsure the type of questions I should ask. What should I know before I purchase invites? I will be meeting with people who make invites, but just need to know what you would ask! Thanks

Just a few.

Make sure they have samples.
Can they help you with the wording?
What happens if they get it wrong & they need to redo them?

What is included in the price of each invitation ?
How large does an order have to be?
How much assembly will I need to do once the invitations arrive?
Can you match one of your designs to my wedding colors?

What type of payments do you accept?
Do I have to pay before I receive my order?
How long does it take complete an order?
What is the turn around time after my final approval?
After I receive the proof can I change anything?

Ask if they have any samples. What kind of paper (weight, size, texture, colours) do they usually use? What quality and colours of ink? Have an idea of what the wording is that you want in your invitation/the info you want in it and a colour scheme - match dresses, etc? Then ask them what ideas they have that might work well. Find out how long it would take to have a sample invitation made for your work if you chose them to do it and when your order would need to be in, in order for the order to be ready by whatever date you choose. Make sure you leave a month or more extra before you need to have them ready to go, because you're going to want extra time in case there's any foul ups and you have to fold and tie ribbons and that kind of stuff yourself. Also, don't forget to ask about cost of invitations, reply cards, reply envelopes, invitation envelopes, larger mailing envelopes, etc. You may want to ask if they can scan pictures of you and your intended onto the invitations. Some people also send along bookmarks or something, too, in their invitations, I think.

Ask to see samples that they have done not pictures or photocopies.Make sure you feel them as well as look at them some papers just feel better than they look while other look good but feel light and cheap. Of course ask price. Also ask for references. Ask what the time line on your order would be and what is included for the price. Check for cancellation policy and see how many orders they generally do make sure they aren't stretching themselves thin by taking your order. Also see if the contract out the work or if they do it themselves.Don't forget to get a time line on a proof and how long you have to approve it. Also see what different colour inks look like on different papers. Check see if they offer corner copy if you need it. Check on printed envelopes if available. Ask what their return policy is if invitations are not up to standard(extra ink on them from being stacked wet or printing not centered properly)Ask if there is extra charge if you get coloured ink.

Wow, there's a lot of good answers. One other I would ask is if they have any references. You know people who have ordered through them & loved what they got. Maybe depending on the size of the company find out if they're a member of the Better Business Bureau.
