from calling me with promotional offers? I'm on the DO NOT CALL registry, so I don't receive other telemarketing calls, but I still get my own CC companies calling all the damn time with some 'wonderful service' they have to offer. I try not answering, but they'll call EVERY DAY till I finally give up, answer, and say NO.
Can I get them to stop? If so, what hoops do I have to jump through?

I work for a major consumer financing corporation and trust me when I say that this is a common and frustrating concern from a lot of consumers. Most companies have 'opt out' policies where you can request no calls, mailings, or emails outside of those you agreed to in your cardmember agreements. I'd advise calling the company and telling then you want to have ALL calls, including those from any affiliates and the company itself, ceased immediately.

However, if you are on any 'existing' marketing lists you may still receive some residual calls until new lists are ran. Hope this helps.

Good question!

Here is the run down:

If you have a business relationship of any type with the company, they can call to solicit you for business - even if you are on the do not call list.

However, you are able to opt-out of their list. When you inform someone via telephone of your request to opt-out, they must respect this and stop calling. If they do not stop calling, here is a great remedy for you and the other people reading this:

Sue them in small claims court under the TCPA, or Telephone Consumer Protection Act. It is under title 47 of the USCS, Section 227. Mearly by proving to a judge that you requested to be removed from the list, and then they called you after this request (record the calls), you are entitled to an automatic $500. This is tripled very easily to $1,500 by the judge under easy to meet standards.

These damages are per call and are cumulative. Each call equals more money. There are many web sites available to assist you in preparing one of these easy-to-file lawsuits. I've listed a couple below and highly recommend you review a couple to get fully informed of your rights. This law applies to "junk faxes", pre-recorded messages, and other situations.

Best of Luck!! Happy Hunting!!

What you have to do is two things.

First send a letter (look on the back of your statement, or call customer service for privacy notice).
Write a letter telling you not to call with promotional offers. This should be in writing.
Next, you can opt-out with the credit bureaus so you may not get new solicitations.
Finally, change your number listed on credit report or just change your number and don't give it to creditors.

Common sense but it works.

Good Luck

When you applied for your credit Card did you list your work phone # as your daytime phone number? If so that is why you are getting these calls. If you have on line access to this credit card account go into the account & change your Daytime phone contact information. Until you change this Contact Info you will continue to get these calls @ work & you have given them permission to call you there. If you can not get to your account on line : Notify the CC company in writing of your "New" daytime phone Contact Information - then give them your home # & let your machine deal with them. Marti

You have to call them (or just wait for them to call you back), and tell them that you would not like to be informed of promotional offers and you would not like to be called again. That's all I ever had to do.

Try scaring them........

Tell them firmly to not call you again with their offers and put you on THEIR "do not call list".

Tell them if they continue to call you will cancel your Credit Card.

If you owe a rather large balance tell them that you will transfer to a different card/company.

If they want to keep you as a customer one would think that if you tell them you will no longer be, if they keep calling, then they will stop.

I actually had to call them and give them a fake number lol. Nothing would stop them. And it is not covered by any law...they can call you whenever they want if it's not to collect a debt.

The do not call registery doesn't prohibit businesses you have a current relationship with from calling.

What you need to do is to simply request them to put you on their do not call list the next time they call.

As soon as the caller identifies themselves, just hang up. If it is a computer calling you, hang up immediately. If you can screen your calls just never respond.
