On this year's Ohio State football roster, I count four engineering majors (2 civil & 2 mechanical). Three of them are seniors; one is a freshman. So, those three seniors seemed to have stuck with engineering until their senior year. One of them is the quite talented cornerback Antonio Smith (mechanical engineering).

That being said, engineering is no walk in the park. I would say if you are bright and disciplined, you will do just fine. You won't be able to schedule many courses during the autumn, and you are almost certainly looking at 5yrs to complete your degree. Also, you are certainly going to have academic help from the football support staff at your university.

So... that is an OSU electrical engineering grad student's take on your question. Also, my sister does varsity rowing and is studying undergrad computer engineering. She seems to do just fine and somehow finds time to watch CSI episodes and movies on TV.

I knew a guy when I was in Engineering School, that was on the football team. That was before all the NCAA rules restricting practice time. He said football practice consumed about 4 hrs of the day.

There is a lot of homework in Engineering School and with 4 or so hrs per day practice plus games and travel, I hope you have a scholarship because there's not time for a part time job.

He graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering and had a high enough grade point to get into medical school. He is now an orthopedic surgeon. So it can be done but it won't be easy.

division1 football and engineering? come to California!! UC Berkeley undergrad engineering is one of the best in the country and the football program is improving every year. as an engineer at Cal, ive seen many athletes in my classes. of course you will be very busy. college is difficult especially when some professors dont give a **** about teaching, and only teach the class because the university makes them. but the experience at Cal is amazing. usually engineering here courses are heavily curved and there are many resources you can use to get through your classes.

GO BEARS!

Your plans are suicide! Yikes.
You can do it if you take the minimum academic load, probably. Are you smart? :)
