OR you can see the vet and have them teach you to tube feed. Takes less time!!!!!

If she is still in labor, she won't nurse them untill she is done, if she takes breaks inbetween having the pups put the pup by the nipple so it can nurse, if after she is done having pups and still doesn't nurse you will have to bottle feed them every 2hrs and time gets less as they get older, usually you will know when they are hungry because the start to whimper and look for milk.

If she is having pups at the same time you are trying to let them nurse, the nursing brings on stronger contractions to deliver the next pup. Sometimes when they are uncomfortable and delivering she may not want them just yet. If she does not seem like the contractions are coming on I would stick them with her anyways, try getting them to latch on, keep them on heating pad while she is delivering(temp. about 85 degrees) with several blankets over it to keep from getting to hot, make sure they are not on the heat pad directly. There are some females that don't get attached to their pups and want nothing to do with them. I would not let them pup go beyond about 1 1/2 hours with out the first milk. You may have to bottle feed, Esbilac, or goats milk, every 2 hours.

Right now she is doing the job of delivering these babies. She will most likely start to nurse them very soon. Now, she has to clean the new ones, and get them started breathing, etc. Just watch her and make sure they do start to nurse soon. It may not be until after all the pups are born, but the mamas usually do what they need to do.

If your dog is having puppies at this moment, don't worry about her nursing them for now.
She is too busy being in labor.
Once she has ALL of her puppies and she lays down to rest after the ordeal, she will allow the puppies to nurse.
The thing to do is to make sure that while "MOM" is in labor and restless that you watch the puppies so that she doesn't accidentally lay on one and help take care of them, get them dry and keep them warm until the birthing process is over.
Between puppies be sure to let her see her puppies and lick on them,it encourages labor and it helps with the bonding process.

"Heat up the Wok" -- posted by some idiot above me, Richard W. Do us all a favor, D*ckhead, and commit suicide. Now.
And now to the question.....here we have another idiot who clearly knows nothing about breeding dogs...yet her dog is having a litter of puppies. Great. Why are there so many morons on here who are having litters? Do they not realize that the shelters are crammed with unwanted pets as it is? Great....let's just add more, shall we?
Unf***ingbelievable.

If she refuses to nurse you will either have to bottle feed them or find a surrogate mother for them. if you don't do this they will die.
