2 weeks ago I had 2 teeth out 1 was particularly (sp) difficult to remove and the dentist had to give me an injection 4 times because I could feel what she was doing. Because I get anxiety attacks I took half a Lorazepam about an hour before I went. I had been home for about an hour or so when all of a sudden I felt very shivery and I looked very pale so I decided I'd go to bed to see if I felt better, I didn't and ended up taking 2 Ibruprofen and those just made me feel hot, not sweating, just very hot. So could it have been a reaction to the injections or maybe even a reaction between the Lorazepam and injections? Or just 1 of those things?I have to go back for more treatment and I'm a bit concerned about it all really. Thanks for any help you can give.

As stated before, 4 cartridges of LA is quite safe if used with a vasoconsrtictor (the usual type). The bloodstream concentration will peak about 20 mins after injection, not hours later.
There is no cross-reaction between the drugs that you mention.
This "reaction" is part of your anxiety and nervousness. Hell, I'd be nervous if I still felt pain after the first 3 shots! Plus the fear of 2 extractions.
If you are talking half of a 1mg Lorazepam (i.e. 0.5mg), then the effect on your anxiety with a single dose probably is negligible. Talk to your doctor or dentist about an increased dose, and probably some the night before. But you should have someone escort you to-and-fro.Or they might suggest something altogether different. Have you tried the nitrous?

Both my sister and I had bad reactions to injections at the dentist. I felt very sad soon after the injection and as soon as I got home (about 10 minutes later) I was in floods of tears. The feeling lasted a few hours then stopped abruptly. Felt quite shakey and stuff.

My sister asked her dentist about it, and he said many people had that reaction. Apparently there is an alternative injection which doesn't provide those side-effects. She gets that now. I'm going to ask the dentist about it at my next appointment (next week!)

hey giving u the injection 4 times, is still with in the normal dose...bcz a healthy fit adult can have up to 12 carpules of the local anesthitic solution, dpending wiether it is containing or not the vaso-constricter, but 4 r still within the normal accepted dose, having ur relaxent (lorazepam) 1 hr before....usualy its effect will last for 6 hrs after the treatment, 2 tablets of brufen will act as a pain killer and these r a must, after any dental treatment... any way dont get scarred, if it was a drug reaction it would happen immediatly..... u can just wait, or go back to ur dentist, but i would rather advice u to go to a general medical practitioner as they r familier with these cases...hoping u will get well soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon

To be honest, nerves, fear and shock can induce some pretty horrible side effects. You already have anxiety issues, you could feel the discomfort of the procedure and you had to have numerous injections... :o( Not a great mix, huh?

I would suggest, though, not mixing your medication. Ibuprofen won't do much for you feeling shaken up and nervy: it's a painkiller. I know it's easier said than done, but try to seek out other ways to calm yourself: Nerves + a nice big dose of mixed meds isn't going to make you feel top notch.

Best of luck! xx

You need the drugs hot line, if you had any more chemicals floating about in your body you'd be in trouble. If you know your going to be injected and you feel a little worried tell your dentist and he will be able to give you something that won't react with the other medication.

have a chat with your dentist about your concerns. And in future its always wise to let any health professional treating you , even the dentist, know if you are taking any medication at all, even over the counter stuff.

Sounds like low blood sugar. Would suggest you eat an hour or so before dental appointments.
