You should have bought an LCD, but seriously most manufacturers warranty their products for 1 year and will do in-house repair while under warranty. Otherwise, you may be looking at about a $500 repair bill. Sorry.

There are a couple things that could have gone wrong:

First off a plasma tv CAN NOT be tilted on its side. The plasma is floating around in the screen and this can cause it to never settle properly hence no screen image.

Also plasma tv's need to be at room temp. before you start it up for the same reason as listed above. The plasma needs to be settled at a proper temp. before you can boot it up or it can casue the plasma to try to display while it is in a more solid state.

you can read answers on here all day long about what to do when it happens-but at the end of it all your tv has done something it is not supposed to-contact either a service engineer or the manufacturers-i have an LG plasma set (the same size as yours) and it doesn't go pop and no picture-so it cannot be described as characteristic of plasma sets.

Bad news. Call a technitian. Something inside of your TV fried and now your picture won't work until that something is replaced.

Sorry to be so vague, but I'm better at giving advice on choosing a TV than I am at fixing them.

I hope you have some (original or extended) warranty on this set.
Toshiba service (or a Toshiba authorized service center) is the only one that can help you. Call the 800 number on the warranty card.

my tv does that too i hate it!>:(
try turning it on and off completly
and then if you have comcast or somthing like that
play a recording and your screen will usually come back..
and if that doesnt work try checking all the cords in the back and make sure their all plugged in..
and last resort is to call your cable operator
