After hearing about people tryna ban the word "reggin" I got disgusted at that idea. Why? Becuase I believe whole heartedly the word is not the problem;but the context in which it is used is. For black people(and evan the few whites and others were friends with) it's not meant to sound or be negative. When we get people who still have that blacks should be slaves mentality then we get a problem when they use it; cause they mean for it to be negative. But does anyone besides me agree we should leave the past in the past and move on with the present and future?
I mean I'm a man of God(Jesus),I'm black, and I dont have a problem using that word or being called in that word if used in the proper context.
Last I checked God doesnt want us to look back either, but to continue to go foward. He turned Lot's wife int a pillar of dust becuase she looked back. Again if used in the proper context and around people that dont mind there should be no problem.

And what do ya'll think?

It's not the word, it's the meaning behind it. True, it's hard for some people to separate word and meaning when words have been used in negative ways for so long. But if you're among people who are cool, kind, honest, non-judgmental...if you know their hearts are pure, then they probably won't offend you no matter what they say.

But if you're a hateful person, you can take the most innocent words and turn them into venom. It's all about the intention behind what you say.

We're under the new covenant. We are no longer under the law. The new covenant requires more of you and me though.

Under the law, adultery was wrong. Nothing about strip clubs was mentioned. Under the new covenant, Jesus told us not to look upon another woman with lust. (strip clubs are out for you and me)

Also, Jesus told us as mature believers not to cause a younger believer to stumble. The bible says not to be drunk on wine - could imply that a couple of drinks is OK, right? But if a younger believer sees you and me having a beer, then they think it's ok for them to have a six pack, 'cause they can handle it. So for you and me, drinking is out. My best friend in college used to call me "cips-face". He would've crushed the skull of anyone else who tried to call me that though. As mature believers, trying not to cause younger believers to stumble, these kinds of words are now out for you and me.

Does that make sense?
