I cannot think of a religion or ethnic group which is not predatory.
granted some groups go to more extremes than others but they all encourage though positive and negative incentives to say in the fold.
who would want to lose members and influence?

Christianity in its genuine form is not predatory (whatever you mean by that, which I assume is of a very negative way judging by your use of the word). Christianity is a missionary faith, and Christians are called to preach the Gospel by word of mouth and demonstrate their faith by good works consistent with NT teachings. Any form of "predatory" behaviour that you ascibe to Christians do not find their sanction in the teachings of the Bible. Christianity has been a missionary faith right from the start. Even though wars and acts of cruelty had been carried out in the name of Christ, they were not done according to the teachings of Christ.
As for Islam, it has been a military faith right from the start. The teachings and example of Muhammad in early Islamic history show that Islam has conquered by the sword. It is a dominatory faith, seeking world domination. Whatever violence committed in the name of Allah against infidels finds support in the teachings and examples of Muhammad.
Bottom line: You have to discern between that which is done in the NAME of a religion and that which is done according to in the TEACHINGS of the religion. Both aren't necessarily the same. Just because something is done in the name of a religon does not mean that it is done in accordance to the teachings of the religion.

I don't think so. Certain sects, or groups, yes, but not the religion as a whole.
Usually, the ones that screw up a religion are its people, not God or the religion itself. The people following the proper religions sometimes have screwed up ideas, and those, I believe, are the ones that should be given counselling.
tsk tsk.

I think that's a perfect word to describe it. It preys on other religions, persecuting them to cover its own problems and attempting to force their members to convert.
