First if I were you I would start with a bridal shop. Advertise there with some catchy business cards. Maybe even talk with some banquet halls. I know the banquet hall I booked had a number listing attached to their paperwork for businesses who they have worked with. I think your best bet is to talk to some bridal shops about your services. Make an agreement with them to suggest to brides they purchase their gowns from the shop. If you need help writing a letter there are many online resources that can help you. You want to sound professional but simple. Don't intoduce yourself as just a bridal consultant. State that you are a fresh consultant who has just graduated, also explain that since you just graduated you have fresh ideas and modern techniques. Good luck and remember to be yourself and don't push your business too much.

Do not email.
Type & copy a cover letter to send or give to the churches along with a copy of your diploma.

Here's a brief rundown
Cover letters are an opportunity to convey your focus and energy. “If you don’t have a lot of experience, use the cover letter to show you have enthusiasm. “Writing a strong cover letter and then calling to follow up shows tyou have drive and interest. Although you should feel free to consult references and models, use your own words when writing a cover letter; don’t mimic another person’s writing style.

All letters should be single spaced, flush left, with each paragraph followed by a blank line. Use professional, polite words. Revealing your personality is fine, as long as your style conforms to business protocol.

Most cover letters are two or three paragraphs long. Every cover letter should fit on one page and contain the following four parts: Salutation, opening, body, and conclusion.

Salutation. Whenever possible, send your letter to a specific person rather than to an office. Check that the name you use is spelled correctly and the title is accurate. Pay close attention to the Mr. or Ms. before gender-neutral names. Finally, use a colon after the name, not a comma.

Body. The next portion of your cover letter is a brief explanation of your qualifications. Don’t simply repeat your résumé; summarize your most relevant qualifications or provide additional details about a noteworthy accomplishment.

You can also use the body of your cover letter to address gaps in your work history or other problems evident on your résumé.. Always maintain a positive, confident tone.
The closing is your chance to show commitment to the job. If you tell them you plan to call, make sure you do it.

Chances are the churches are going to have their own wedding coordinators. The unfortunate thing about Wedding Planners/Consultants is that there are more people running around calling themselves such and they don't really know what they are doing. Churches usually don't like working with planners and often won't even allow them to do anything during the ceremony. Your best bet is to get a website and advertise in the local papers and through Yahoo or other wedding directories...it is pricey, so think about getting a small business loan. That is what I am doing!

I think you might be missing your market by introducing yourself in an email to a church. I would suggest giving yourself a reception. Start by inviting other vendors that you will be working with charge them for display tables like at trade show also ask for a donated gift for door prizes. (this is actually quite easy) It is important that you get in good with these people. One of these vendor needs to be a dress maker or wedding shop and you may need to help them find models. also get a dj then he can show off by having a fashion show. Then invite the public you can charge an admission to help offset the cost. make sure you give out bags to all brides that you will have register for the prices. You get a copy of all the brides who show up name and telephone. they get your information in the bag along with info for their wedding and info about you. Then you phone all the brides and introduce yourself as a bridal consaltant inform them about your services and prices. You could also do some wedding ediqute and whats new in weddings don't get too detailed leave them wanting moreshow during a break in the fashion show so they can put a face to you make sure you have a table by the door so you see everyone coming and going. These events are usually well attended.Keep receipts because you should be able to claim this as a business expense. Advertise where social announcements are in the paper along with signs at all vendors.
I would offer a limited time cheaper rate to first 10 brides to use your services for word of mouth and experience are excelent advertisements plus then you will have pictures for your portfolio. And references. Also give a prize of your service say 4 hours as one of the door prizes.I recently won 100 off a wedding cake and I ended up going to her because this made a nicer cake in my budget (I still paid another 120 on top of the prize)
