I bought a Citizen/Electrohome TV because it was so cheap. But the picture is dark even when the brightness is turned up to maximum (100)!! Is there any way to make it brighter? If anyone can help, I would be very grateful.

Maybe your screen voltage is not enough.
Need someone expert since to adjust this you must open the unit (Its dangerous)

Expert tip: Stick with name brands!

Remember: You get what you pay for.

Here's a little tip that surprisingly made my tv brighter and the darks more solid at the same time... If you have any dvds with a THX logo on them (Pirates of the Caribbean or Star Wars are good bets), use the tests provided on the discs. They can usually be found in the set-up menu.

The short answer is no. The only fix is to watch it in the dark.

If you can, try returning it to wherever you got it, and see if you can try out an other one in the store. (take it out of the box and plug it in) Please keep in mind: Doing this takes up a lot of time from someone who most likely is on commission, and while helping you out, is prevented from making mony by selling real TVs to other customers.

Go during the week, in the day time, and call ahead for an appointment. Perhaps you can get the store manager to help you.

a quick question for you. are you watching cable alone or cable and movies. if your tv is brighter when you watch a dvd you may need to check the copper wire in the center of your co axial cable for corrosion. the only other thing which I'm sure you've checked is, is your screen clean?
oh 1 more thought, check to see if there is a removable plastic film on your screen. that's my 2 cents, hope it helps.

If you turned it all the way to 100 and it is still dark, you have a bum picture tube.
If you bought it new, take it to the store, if you bought it used..... sorry
