Course it is, where to you think our morals & laws come from ? The Bible ! The bible has also got prophcey that has to be fulfilled before Jesus comes back to earth, which could happen at any time now or the future & Jesus gave us this scripture as a guide, which is practical for our day
Mat 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Mat 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Mat 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Mat 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Mat 24:46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Mat 24:47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
Mat 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
Mat 24:49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
Mat 24:50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
Mat 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Plus Jesus said
Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

The Bible is not a "good book", that is probably one of the biggest cover-ups of all time.

The book is scandalous, and hugely inconsistent.

It shows God to be an evil, nasty, malicious, jealous, self obsessed maniac.

I strongly recommend reading the God Delusion by Richard Dawkins to open your eyes about the Bible.

You dont need a book, or a god to live a good and meaningful life.

In terms of your question, of course it is not practical, and has never been so. It is, quite simply, a ridiculous book.

The only people who believe in it, in my opinion, are a bit tapped, and delusional, who cherry pick bits of "goodness", and leave out the 95% of down right evil and menance - the phrase "the fear of god" originated because of how god is shown to be in the bible- a nutter.

As such, if there was a god, which there isnt, he would be nothing like the god described in the bible, which highlights the glaring truth that the bible is a book of silliness and very much of it's time.

A Muslim person and I had a conversation about the relevance of the Koran for today and my position was the same for all of the older holy writings. In a social context, they are very much outdated by the evolution of the world's societies, but their core moral teachings are still as rel event now as then. I'm not talking about dietary restrictions, treatment of non believers, women or children, but personal moral values that most people can relate to and apply, these are the important teachings to look at.

Sure it is, I use it daily. Without it, I'd be making really bad decisions (like I did before I used it), I'd be sick most of the time and have that little frown that I always used to wear.
