I'm stuck in a Ice Storm and I want to make brownies. Is there any way I can substitute something for the cooking oil required, which I do not have?
Thanks

I substitute apple sauce for oil in everything I bake, if it calls for 1/4 cup oil, I use a little bit more apple sauce. It works for everything else, I guess it would work for brownies.

Motor oil, thick black motor oil. NOOOOOOOOOO. Seriously, the other people have it. Go with butter or marg. Maybe cook at 325 instead of the regular 350' a few min longer. Good luck.

PS: ship brownies to G_________-

If you have a can o nonstick cooking spray, just spray it into a measuring cup, all it is is vegetable oil in there. I know it sounds weird. But I have done it before, and the brownies turned out delicious! Hope it helped, sorry if it didn't.

In cake mixes, I have substituted the oil with applesauce and it was more healthy and less fattening. It might work in brownies.

Margarine & crisco might work but will also have a thicker consistency than oil.
