I have tried two different types of tablets but they both kill my sex drive. Have tried citropram(?) and lexapro.

If you are suffering from mild depression you can take 5-HTP, which would help your body produce more serotonin naturally without any side effects, it is a herbal supplement. FYI, melatonin would not help in this situtation, since melatonin is converted in the body from serotonin and it does not produce serotonin.

I wouldbe interested to know how your doctor determined your serotonin levels as being low...

I have been told the same things by doctors and their diagnosis was based solely on the fact that I was sad and upset a lot and that I appeared depressed.

Is there a test they do to determine seratonin levels?

After much counselling my counsellor and I decided that I was sad and upset a lot and appeared depressed because a lot of sad, upsetting and depressing things have happened to me.... in other words me being depressed is a natural response to some horrid experinces.

There are natural things you can do to improve moood..

20 minutes of walking out doors every day...
the sun fresh air and exercise all work together to change your mood.

Eating fresh fruit and vegetable stops your system from becoming sluggish and allows your body to be fully fueled on the right stuff

Drink lots of water to flush out toxins

If you are unhappy where you live do whatever it takes to moe to where you would rather be...

Make an effort to be amongst other people socially...

These things worked for me....

The doctors drugs only made me worse...

Cymbalta is good. Wellbutrin doesn't effect sex drive, but doesn't work for everyone. Zoloft decreases sex drive in some people but is a good drug if you also have anxiety with depression. Lexapro will definitly do in your sex drive. Never heard of citropram.

lexapro is really really good at helping depression and anxiety but it also puts your sex drive in stop (sometimes reverse) what you might want to ask your doctor about is an older anit drepressant as well as a mood stablizier that is what i do, wellburtin has a very low sexual side effect but it didn't work that well for me

I'm on Effexor, same problem. My best friend changed from Effexor to Cymbalta, and now she chases her husband around. You might try Cymbalta, my doctor is changing me to that.
