Is there a message given by this choice in clothing?

I think it greatly sends mixed messages. Can't help but look at the ermine lined stoles and think.. "How many hungry people could be fed for the price that cost.."

I'm sure that God would much rather that his followers be snappy dressers than help their fellow man. /sarcasm.

he was showing hte papacy's wealth, however, people arent super ok with this b/c hey, the papacys supposed to be doing it solely for God, and yet they have all sorts a sweet stuff. the papacy had lots of money, as always and showes it, along with their power etc, off for everyone ot see. also, ermine etc has always been associated with nobility, which the higher ups in the church have always been.

I think its awesome. If he IS trying to send a message its probably encouraging people to be more conservative and traditional, which i am 100% behind.

I personally find such rich attire in direct conflict of Jesus message. But I'm not Catholic so I won't judge.
