The person who becomes the President is an ordinary human being. He/she is fallible and often unsure.
The head of a country can't let that show. They must present to the country what the people expect of a leader. Confidence, authority, an aura of always being in control.
They must learn lines (speeches, responses, etc) like an actor and deliver them as a larger than life character "The President"

Acting is just an ordinary person assuming a role and being convincing in that role. Same with The President. He must act the part.

Hope that made sense :-)

It's really very simple. The job of President requires that the person be able to present themselves, their country and their policies as other than they really are, hence being an actor is a prerequisite for the role.

I would go with belmyst's answer and add, the president doesn't have any near the amount of power that he allows us to believe he has. The power lies with the people and congress. He has to create the illusion that he is the leader of the free world when in actuality, he isn't

The presidents don`t really mean what they say, they only say it because they want to continue to be the president.

I think it means they need to project an image and to answer like acting, they cant be sloppy while talking they need to present their country like their own home so they need to act like this country is his house and he needs to make a good image for others.
