Well, to me, it does.

When people give me things like cards for gifts, or just a piece of paper that says "happy birthday" or "happy holidays", I smile. They cared about me enough to give me SOMETHING.

I mean, I wouldn't mind an actual gift. But, them putting aside some time to show to me that they care about me is a good enough gift.

I think when recieving gifts it does, cuz even if someone gives you a gift that you don't really like, they were trying to do something nice for you and didn't know that you wouldn't like it.

Yes, it means don't get pissy when someone gives you a gift that you didn't really want, because they were thinking of you and trying to make you happy.

No, that's why you find gifts on ebay after you give them to someone. Or like what happened to me I got called a bad son for buying something i thought my mum would like and she disowned me for several months, still cop verbal abuse from it.

It would be nice if people meant it however most don't.
