Milk will counteract the heat. Water is not good, for the same reason that oil and water don't mix.

Since your taste receptors are on your tongue, the more you can avoid resting the food on your tongue, the better. Dipping in ranch or blue cheese dressing or some dairy will minimize the heat going down.

Be warned - the pain might not be so much when you eat them as the next day when you go to the bathroom. Then you might really be feeling the heat.

My best suggestion is drink milk while eating hot wings. Another thing to try is when you take a bite swallow immediately that way the oils from the sauce doesn't touch the tongue. Try that and good luck

I heard that you can eat dairy products to cool your mouth. For example drinking milk and eating cheese.

me and a friend used to do this in college all the time. Ranch dressing, and celery (hence why it always comes as a side) also do not drink water or eat ice, it will inhance the heat, dunno why, drink milk!! it cools the mouth.
