There is a difference between values and things that we value. Values usually encompass things such as morals and beliefs whereas things that you value are things that you consider important and things that you hold dear. Your values, or morals, should be included in the things that you value and consider important.

My bigest value is living authentically. Another way to phrase it is living in your truth.

I think it is the foundation for positive transformation and abundant life.

Know yourself, Learn to love yourself even when there may be aspects that you are not proud of. Be yourself with others giving them a chance to love you as you are "warts" and all. Accept that you are a work in progress not the end product so it is ok to grow and change. Mistakes, bad judgements, poor decissions happen and can be forgiven but you must admit your error, forgive yourself and try not to repeat the mistake.

I am gay and have had a long road accepting this. I have committed crimes, illegal drug use, felonious embezzlement, drunk driving. I use to lie all of the time to make myself look better than I was. I still drink too often. I can be very selfcentered. I am not warm socially. I am also inteligent. funny, romantic, giving, energetic, joyful, dedicated and loyal. Learning to live authentically has allowed me to accept, admit and work on improving my faults as well as be proud of my gifts and talents. It has also made me humble enough not to judge other and accept and love them even in the middle of their stuff.

I learned first about this from Rev. Belva Y. Boone pastor of St. John's MCC. I learned to live it as part of that church community. not by force but by witnessing others live it and seeing that is was safe for me to live it too. God gets the real credit though because God is the one who asks us to live this way and offers the greatest of encouragements through the forgiveness garunteed by Jesus' resurection. God loves me, made me as I am, even knowing what I have and will do God said I was good, God calls me child, God gave up God's most valuable posession God's life as a human/God's only son so that I may always be forgiven even when people won't, God will.

To that end, out of absolute gratitude, I willingly have dedicated my life, all that I am and all that I have, to God's service. I spend as much time as I can in God's company, listening, sharing, learning and growing.

I value my relationship with God. I would rather loose my home, health, stuff, even my family and life, than ever deny/leave God.

The sad thing, from God's and most people's perspective, is I do not value my life. I find myself a misfit and ill suited and equipped for human existence. I would be great as a guardian or archangel but this human interaction and caring thing is just not me. I have to struggle constantly to be the positve, encouraging example that God wishes I would model. In a way this struggle/"thorn in my flesh" is the foundation that has created my relationship with God.

Value is meaningless, a figment of our imagination or other people perspective of life in which they share a greater vision in hopes of a greater life in the developed society in which they live.
