When they do backround checks, does drunk driving from 6 years ago affect getting licensed?

The state is no help, I called them and they told me that they would not know until I apply for the license and am either turned down or approved.

I just got into a nursing program at BYU and what they do is if you have anything on your record, you just have to write a paper saying how you've overcome your problem. It'll for sure show up on your record, If they ask for a paper/explanation, just say that you took some rehab classes and haven't driven drunk since and don't plan to in the future. you should be fine, good luck!

It will come up. But from what I know you'll have to do some paper work and as long as it is not recent you should be OK.

But I know it is grounds to lose your license once you get it though.

Call your Board of Registered Nursing.

I would not think that it would. You need to check with your state as they are all different.
