Very interesting question!
After initially wanting to say no, I think the answer is yes. The key is that the ringtones are obnoxious, not just "unique". It takes a special person to pick a ringtone that is truly obnoxious.
As always, there are some exceptions. For example, I am going to get a guy I know (for his bachelor party) a nice dirty ringtone which says his name in a _very_ sexy manner. Quite obviously obnoxious, but no, nothing to do with insecurities. But it will be in Vegas after all.
Anyways, love the question. Got me thinking.

no, they just have a sense of humor and are having a little fun. Life is to serious and stressful, find the joy in small things!
