We will stop often for them to crawl around the car and such. But we have 2 kittens and were thinking of bringing them to my family for a 3 day christmas vacation. The kittens will not be left without us (the parents they know) for more than an hour or 2. People do it often with dogs, so I am just curious, it will be easier than finding a sitter. We will bring their toys, same food, same litter and probably will limit them to a certain part of my mom's house that has enough room to roam. Plus they will have eachother which they can't live without!

They have been in the car many times before and have been fine, back and forth to the vet for all their shots, sometimes I would bring 1 of them to the petstore so they could see the birds. They didn't mind, just another place for them to explore (my car) although I now use a small carrier or keep them close on my lap since they are larger and could distract my driving much more than before.

It will definitely be a little stress full for them. It would be OK if you stop for around 10 minutes after each hour to let them crawl around. limiting them to a part of your mother's house is a very good idea. And most important, keep them together. Being in a new place will be a little weird for them, they will definitely need each other!

I got my cat from the pound, she was about 5 month old.
We started a week before the big 1500mile journey to put her in the car and started the motor and stayed a few minutes it the car, then put her back in the house and gave her a treat.
Next day we drove around the block with her and again gave her a treat.
Then after a few short rides in the neighborhood we went a shot drive on the highway.
She was ready to go she did not have any problem at all.
Several friends of ours have done it the same way since.
Your kittens should be just fine.Good Luck

I don't really trust sitters, bad experiences for me and my animals. On another note my cat LOVES to go on road trips and I travel alot so it is certaintly possible for your cats to do the same. I started taking him to my mom's house every weekend which was a 30 min drive when he was just 2 months old. Now at 7 months old he doesn't even need a carrier, in fact he hates it more than anything. He's perfectly content sitting in the back seat on a booster seat watching the scenery, I spoil him too much. Anyway I believe that the key to a comfortable ride is to gradually increase their time in the car. Start taking them on quick trips to the store or 30 minute rides around town to get use to stops, turns and usual traffic also get them use to wearing a leash so you can let them out of the car for a break. Keep plastic bags, napkins, food, water and familiar bedding in the car if they start to dislike the carrier so that you're prepared. Another tip is to put them on the leash and tie to something in the car so that they can't jump out when you're just putting gas or something. My cat will try to sneak his way out and I'd hate for something to bad to happen. Everything should be fine and good luck!

Then deliver a bag with some prominent toys. And video games like automobile bingo will be grat, even for the three 12 months previous. they could help discover issues alongside with something else of them, if no longer have their personal card to play with. Card video games, like bypass fish and previous maid are sturdy. Then there is the aqua doodle commute pads and magnadoodles. They should do fine. I use to take one of my cats every where with me. Riding in the car didn't stress her out at all. I traveled about 3000 miles with the two I have now. They did just fine. If you think they will get stressed out go to a health food store and get something called Rescue Remedy. This is all natural and can be give to animals or humans. You can put in their water or give them a drop of it.
I would take the little fur children with me.

Your cats should be fine. Watch out, they may get a bit car sick, so have a rag with you. I brought both of my cats on a 4 hour ride for a 2 day vacation, they didn't mind.

WAY too stressful for cats!!!! The cats will not enjoy a trip. I suggest finding someone to drop by and feed the cats while your family is away. Or even leaving them by themselves for 3 days and having someone coming by the middle day to check on them.

Dogs are different and can handle a drive in the car, but not for cats. Please do not take them, let them roam free at their own house with eachother.
