It definitely would be a different world. I'm not sure if it would be better.
That little country touched every continent. But so did other countries. France, Dutch, Portugal, Spain. It's just England was stronger at that time.
If not them one of the other ones would have.

Quick check...Before the British..there were the following nations who ruled empires ...in no particular order!!!
1) Romans
2) Athenians
3)Egyptians
4) Monguls
5) Vikings
6) Spanish
7) Portugese
8) Chinese
9) YANKS (ask the natives)
10) Aussies (ask the natives)
11) etc,etc,etc through millenia

My family is IRISH and the IRISH like the Blacks, got a sever kicking from the british. But History has been molded by those who survive and learn!

This is an excellent question. The arrogance of the white race and the ideal of an extended British empire cast havoc from India to Africa to China and somewhat in Canada and of course, the creation of an Israeli state creating unnecessary hostility among the tribal groups living on the same land. Imperialism is seldom good and the British were master manipulators in their quest for cheap labor, natural goods and gold.

didnt know they where still trying to thats funny. i thought us good ole americans where doing thats . thebritish along with pinky and the brain are the biggest failers at taken over the world. at least we have 50 colonys that worked out pretty good so far. dont get me wrong i love my british roots really but who wants to support a queen that does nothing but live on the taxes and really dont do nothing at all.thats so old yes its culture its also alot of money the british could save to help themselves. dont get me wrong taxes are a good thing. i hate to say that but look how the queen lives i say put her in a oldfolks home and stop the taxes being paid.

If it wasn't the British, it would have been the Spanish, or the Germans, or the French, or the Russians.... Is human nature. I don't like it any more than you being Irish.. but seems humans have a desire to conquer things they do not have as their own.

Not really it is 2006 and we are fighting over oil. Its all about money or power. Back in the past it was about gold silver, and spices. Oh and natural resources like lumber to build ships. Only the names have been changed.
