Everything is important to me. Now, the past, and the future, and when I'm DEAD. Its all good. We can never be sure because well.....since I see you have typed I consider you alive for now. And how can you say our lives are no where? Yes we are to serve God the Father but we are humans after all. Sinning creatures that do mess up occasionally and his salvation is there if we have a good heart. Always. We are not Saints and even so Saints messed up.

Life today, because:
1) Not 100% of the existence of the afterlife.
2) Life today is more urgent.
3) The things I love are in life today.
4) God put me on this earth to enjoy my life today, not fantasize over a life after death.
5) Life today is more fun.

Life after death because I believe only the body dies. Life here is important to life after death because I believe it is for learning and preparing for life after death. Serving God or the energy that put everything together is in understanding and accepting our fellow man and seeking to learn all we can and the more we know the more we realize we know very little.

The only purpose for today is to prepare for eternal life. Just as Christ our Savior did during His time on earth.
Peace :)

"Our life today is definitely going nowhere, so we must give our time to serve god, and by doing his will, recieve salvation."
Tell me you did not just say that.
That is exactly why I quit religion. It's brought me nowhere. Only promises stuff I can never figure out. Who do you know you actually go to heaven when you die? If you're dead, you're unconscious. How do you know you'll go to heaven. Why don't you go ahead and die right now, you're not afraid, right?
So if I'm scared of death, I'm supposed to worry about "life after death"?

I am definately awaiting my life in Heaven with the Lord! I look forward to it more than anything. There is nothing in this life that holds me- HONESTLY. I am not just saying that. I love my family but I love God more and I know my family too will be there....And yes to share the gospel with as many as possible- as I always say there is nothing more important than one's eternal salvation.
Colossians 3:2
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

if you live a good life and try to be decent, that is more important than what might or might not happen after death. it is far more important to live a life you can be proud of, a life you are happy with, than to worry about whether or not consciousness exists after death.
