I'm thinking of getting my first tattoo, and have sketched out an idea.
It would be color, a celtic cross about 3"x2", with a small flying heart. I'm toying with small initials added, but I think I may leave it as is.

Probably on a shoulder, or between shoulder blades, or perhaps on hip.

How much time does something like this normally take, and what about a cost estimate??

I'm not asking your permission.
and I have a well-paying job already. Plus, its UNDER clothing, not visible unless I want you to see it. duh.

3x2 isn't that big, I'd say anything over $100 is too much, it shouldn't take more than an hour. Tattoos are awesome. I have three, and am working on a piece on my back. I hope to have a type of flower mosaic when it's all done. I'm taking my time on it though. Don't listen to all these people telling you not to do it. The places you have selected are all places you can cover up, except for maybe your should, it could be shown if you're wearing a tank top or a dress [think wedding, I want to make sure that none of mine will be seen when I get married (personal preference, but another thing to keep in mind.)]

Good luck with your ink, just make sure to do everything that the tattoo artists says as far as after care is concerned.

hmm well i would have to say that is probably wont cost much maybe around 70-100 maybe..... depends where you go really, you should stop by some places and ask how much, but shop around and check out diff tattoo artists too, just dont pick the first person you find you know? And hmm i have a tatt on my hip i laughed threw the hole thing, lol that was my first and only tatt so far, although my mom has many and she said that the one on her sholder blade hurt the worst.... more then her sholder, so hey i would say think about it and you decide where you would really want it! good luck and have fun with it!!! and just to let you know they are addicting!!! I want another one!!! :o)

o ya and my tatto is little rather not say what it is because i like to be origianl and only took maybe not even 20 mins. from the time i went into the room to the time i stepped out.... not much detail was needed though! :o)

Wow. I didn't realize that there were so many people against tattoos that were going to speak up. If you really want the tattoo and have given it thorough thought, disregard them. As you well know, it's your body and you need no one's permission but your own. Anyway, the price and time it would take to get the tattoo varies, sometimes greatly, by individual shop. Take a few hours and drive to the different shops in your area. Check them out (hygiene, artist specialties, etc.) and ask for an estimate while you're there.

well, i don't have any tattoos, but i've gone with friends when they've gotten theirs.

the place that i usually go to has an $80 minimum. i'd say that if it's a low price, then don't do it cuz: a) could turn out like crap, b) could be unsterile... not clean... whatever, and c) .... don't have a third reason...

and if it's on your hip or shoulder blade, it doesn't matter about jobs, cuz most jobs won't allow you to wear spaghetti strap shirts or anything that will reveal your stomach if it's a good job.

and it will probably be less than a half hour if it's a small tattoo.

Time is depended on the artist and the detail involved in the tattoo. My best estimate is an hour probably less.

Cost will depend on size, design/detail, colors, location, skill of the artist and the shop itself. Most shops have minimums for tattoos, but as far as exact pricing, take the picture to an artist and ask. The best way to know is for them to see it.

Well make sure you like the idea of having one for the rest of your life...And chose a spot that will allow you to enjoy it as well as other people....As far as cost it will depend on where you go...but beware..
some parlor's will overcharge for poor...I would look around in different parts of town....Some parlors are better than others...But look at the work of whom ever you will get the ink done by..Usually your idea and size should cost around $75 - $100.00 depending on whom you go to though it could be less but plan on spending any where from 50 to 75...I think that is a better range more so than the first...

Disregard the naysayers, first of all, lol. I have three visible tattoos and have a very good, high paying job. Anyway, depending on the artist, you are looking at about 100-150 dollars, and maybe one hour of work. Good luck on your ink, I hope all goes well.

First of all if its something you really want and it means something special to you go for it and get it done. Dont listen to anyone else but what your hearts telling you to do. I would say it'll run you up to $150. I had a simialer sized tattoo sketch prized.
But other places might charge you less. Do alot of research before you get it done and look at thier portfolos to make sure you want them to do it.
