Why do drivers need to read the newspaper or watch dvds while driving?

I think the kids in the backseat are the ones watching the DVDs. I can see why parents would want to use this to help their kids keep quiet in the car. You could argue that it actually is safer when the kids aren't distracting the driver. I agree with you that I think it's bad to teach the kids that they should be entertained every second.

I know at least one couple where the boyfriend asks his girlfriend to drive so he can play on the Playstation.

I do not believe that drivers should be reading or watching DVDs while driving too much accident.but there should be inform about what is going on .

Don't know of any jurisdiction that permits television, DVDs, etc. to be viewed from the front seat of a automobile. There are the devices that show you where you are and which way to go to get to your destination. I think those are about the only visual devices permitted.

They don't need to but look how many drivers talk on there cell while driving. Why do people have to do that? What did people do before cell phones???

That's insane, I have never seen anybody do that. What did they do, cut two holes in the newspaper for their eyes so they can see the road?
