If I have to go from New York to Chicago, I can start my journey on foot if I am short of funds. Subsequently I can board a bus and finally a flight when funds permit. Similarly we can cut short the spiritual journey by having Satsanga (spiritual congregations) and discourses with like-minded people of all Religions and Faiths. Being a Jain does not mean all other Religions and Faiths have no meaning for me.

The source of all is the same ... the destination of all is the same. We may take any path but we shall all reach the same goal. God, the Almighty Creator is only one for all Religions and Faiths. Man gods can be many yet God, the Almighty Creator is only one.

As we meet people of different faiths in our lives... we must always try to gather the pearls of wisdom they have to impart. The essence of life is... if a person is 2% positive and 98% negative then we better take the 2% positive advice one has to give and go ahead in life. This is the only way to forego the negative aspects of the other. More here- http://www.vijaykumar.com/atman_and_definition.html

The universal wisdoms are fairly common to all major religions. Things like personal responsibility, charity to those in need, justice, good deeds. But that is where most of the common ground ends. To take the other tenants that are not universal any further challenges one's core beliefs if they already consider themselves to be a practicing member of one faith or another. It would require a rejection of many of the fundamental core values and tenents of their said religion.

Who says people already don't?

Consider that the 10 Commandments are a good list. Any decent person could say that. Although it is also common sense that most of us are able to live by anyhow without being religious or thinking about the commandments.

I think that is fine if it would improve your life but dont do it if it conflicts with your own religion! For example if one religion says not to eat meat and you think not eating meat would improve you life but your religion says nothing on the matter, it would be fine to apply veganism in your life! Hope this helped.

Oh yeah - already do.

Every religion has got some basis of truth in it, otherwise it wouldn't have followers.

So, you can find the truth and good in all of them, and make it part of your life. Doesn't mean you are now a "blank", but you found the truth.

Sure, as long as they are based in science and logic with love and compassion for others and COMMON SENSE. Not mindless following of some fairly tale created by powerful men to instill fear to govern and control people who will blindly follow in the name of "their god"
