Well, as harsh as this may sound ,it doesn't really matter if your family wants you on it or not. If it's helping you in your recovery then they should be supportive of it. A lot of people don't agree with the things they don't understand.
The best advice I can think of is to just explain to them what's been going on, and tell them that their love and support is very important for you, and hopefully a combination of their support and the treatment you are currently getting, you can overcome this.
Good luck!

I am also in a Methadone Clinic, my family was totally against the Methadone Clinic also. Then I tried rehab 3 times and it didn't work for longer than two weeks at a time, so I sat my family down and told them that I wanted to try the MC, and I knew how they felt about it but I really needed their love and support because I couldn't do it alone. I told them that I felt that this was my only option. I talked my mother into talking to someone that had been in the clinic for 1 1/2 years and her parents (at the time we were 20). I also gave my family some info on the clinic. After I talked to them I ask my mom to come into the clinic with me and she could talk to the doctor and my counselor and ask all the questions she wanted. That was 5 years ago, I'm still in the clinic, it saved my life. I almost lost everything I had because of drugs and the methadone clinic has helped me get my life back. My bf on the other hand has been in the clinic for 2 years and his family still doesn't know and it is hell trying to hide it from them!! I think you should sit them down and be honest about everything, tell them how much it has helped you, offer them info on the clinic, ask and see if your counselor or the doc at your clinic are willing to talk with your family. Good Luck, I hope it all works out!!!

It is usually the best to present the truth in a calm logical manner. Battling addiction is a war I fight daily. There are some days that I yearn for the drugs, but most days go well. The key is to keep trying what works best for you. I wish you well.

Start talking to your parents. If you have a problem, ASK for help. They shouldn't be upset with you especially if you want help to get this resolved. If you dont address it, it will just get worse......get the help you need!! That is what family is for...to help you!!

Be open.Tell them all the bad things you did and then be prepared to get beaten-up.
