depends on how much you want to spend. if you want to spend under $20k and still have a brand new car, i'd say go for a toyota scion coupe.. they're cute & sporty and around $15k i believe. another one that most ppl do get as a first car is a civic. they are reliable and fuel efficient (from what i heard). but if you are wanting to spend less than $10k, then search for a used car... you can probably compare alot of different cars at that price range given they aren't brand new. i'd say stick w/ toyota or honda as a first.

if you want something really good, and cheap to drive, that is going to hold up good, and be cheap to insure,id recommend a good Toyota corolla ,there one of the most dependable vehicles on the road right now,and one of the cheapest to insure also, but the good thing about them is they don't give a lot of problems i know this because i don't get a lot of them to repair in the shop,,i own a repair shop, and if i had to depend on making a living working on those i wouldn't make it,they just seem to last forever,,but you might want to look at a few, there all over r the place right now,and the price of them is always good,,good luck,,i hope this help,s.

well i would go with something older, thus it would have a stronger more rigid body and frame. a 88 ford crownvictoria is pretty much a good car for begining. my friend recked his going in a ditch at 45 mph and just blow the airbags and broke the pusher bar off. but the crown victoria was made for the police force so its pretty reliable.
