I am going to be completely serious with you
Pros: Truly believing in something is comforting, a built in support system of people who will be willing to help you, and the feeling that you are only living in a harsh and unfair world for a short period of time before you get to go to "heaven"
Cons: Limitations on what you can do of your own free will, Guilt, and of course people like Jerry Falwell

I'm going to disagree with the question.
(Not the best way to 10 points, but there you are...)
If it's only a religion, then yes, it is a matter of pros and cons. What works for you, or what makes for a smooth passage in your culture. It might be one set of beliefs or another. A personal and societal thing.
But at the core of Christianity (also for some other faiths) is the utterly key assertion that it is true. And that assessment comes first. If it is true it should be believed and acted upon however unfortunate, uncomfortable and inconvenient it is.
If it isn't true that Jesus died for our sins, and rose from the dead as evidence of the truth of his words and his acts, well, you may wish to see whether there are surviving "pros" that would lead you to still adopt it, but they aren't so easy to see.
So, don't pick Christianity because it suits you, or reject it because it doesn't. True or not true: now that's the question.

Dear David-
All pros as far as I am concerned.
Christians are those who are true believers, who have received and follow Jesus Christ. There are some who claim to be Christian but do not follow Christ.
The biggest pro would be that through Jesus there is payment for our sins. That is why He died, to make a way for the penalty of sin to be paid for. God raised Him from the dead three days later. Just as it was foretold would happen. Without our sins being paid for we are separated from God for eternity.
Another pro is that we have God's Word written in the bible. Just a word of caution though, there are a lot of "watered down" versions of the bible nowadays. I use the New American Standard Bible, as it was translated word for word from the original languages.
God's Word, the bible tells us about how God & Jesus and the Holy Spirit (the three fold nature of God) were there at Creation. How God created us in His image (God is spirit, we have a spirit).
Another pro is that once we have received salvation (Jesus' payment for our sin) He sticks with us through thick and thin.
Pro- the prophecy that is in the bible. This - to me is the biggest "seller" that the bible is true. Many biblical prophecies have been fulfilled already. The bible tells us that there will be a time that Jesus will return: PRO those who are beleivers will get to be with Jesus when He returns and won't go through a great tribulation in the end days.
You will get many wierd, and crazy, and untrue answers here. Here is a web site that will be helpful.
Christiananswers.net
If you are interested in learning more, find a good version of the bible, study for yourself. I would start with the book of John in the New Testament. Ask questions, check answers in the bible. It is the true Word of God.
So, FYI, I teach a couple of bible study classes for teenagers.
Take care.

Pros - You have something to stress your frustration to without being committed, hope for revenge on those that have wronged you and escape from the hard society, no one is willing change, a seance of being rich as there is roads of gold and a home for you after you death.
Cons - The sad thing is we must come to grips with ourselves that all that was hoped is not, sad huh!

Pro: You might find spiritual enlightenment, and become a better, more thoughtful person.
Con: You might start to think that you are morally superior than non-christians, and interperate the bible as an excuse to do evil.
Whichever path you take, the unifying presence which will save your soul is virtue.

Christianity, throughout history, has shed enough blood to float a battleship. It ranks #1 in killing non-believers. Christians are like Ohio State and Muslims are like Lehigh Valley State Teacher's College.
