I've had my braces off for about a year now.
I had a clear put in/take out retainer and my orthodontist said I don't need to wear it anymore.
Can my teeth still become crooked?

THE TEETH MAY RELAPSE SLOWLY AND HAVE SOME DEGREE OF MISALIGNMENT AT A LATER DATE. IF AFTER 1 WEEK THE RETAINER FITS IN VERY TIGHTLY IT MEANS THAT SOME SHIFTING HAS OCCURRED AND THAT WEARING THE RETAINER AFTERWARD IS A GOOD IDEA.
THERE MAY BE SOME SHIFTING OF THE TEETH, BUT THIS SHOULD BE SMALL.

If your orthodontist says you don't have to wear it, then I'm sure you can trust him or her. If you decide not to wear it, I would say put it in once a week, if it's tight- you will know that your teeth have been moving and little bit and it might be better to just wear it.

I've had my braces off for over 5 years, I wear my retainer every night. After not wearing it for a couple days, it is very tight and painful when I put the retainer back in, so I know my teeth shift without the retainer. :-)

Yes, because teeth have a memory tendency and they'll return to that same position they were in. You should wear a retainer so your money will not go to waste and your teeth will stay straight.

yes you teeth can definetly become crooked again maybe not as bad as they were before but throughout the year that you dont wear your retainer they will eventually become crooked again.

first of all ur orthodontist knows better as cz he is the one who evaluates ur case better..........................but some mild displacement could take place latter on, like that related to the wisdom tooth eruption, or that associated with some habits like tongue trusting, or breathing from ur mouth instead of ur nose, other good reasons may be extractions of teeth without replacing immediately.....so u can tell ...u have to wait and closely keep on observing ur teeth alignment....have fun for now and enjoy ur amazing teeth ...........cheeeeers :)

not really, but they will grow old as u grow old.
The key is to take calcium which makes teeth strong and thick
As u get older , your teeth get thinner.
