Yes. David knew it when he wrote it. It's why that particular Psalm is repeated night after night after night at the Holy Week Tenebrae Office at the end of Lent. It is meant to be comforting.

Not really. I actually find more comfort in an ancient Egyptian proverb that says: Man, know thyself ... and thou shalt know the gods.
