Please tell me this is ridiculous, that is acualy half of his paycheck... we are low on money and are trying to save up to get our own place and to get a car. My mom said it was dumb also, DO YOU THINK THAT IS RIDICULOUS??!!

YES. It is a lot of money, but it is HIS money. Maybe he really wanted to do this for some reason. Maybe his step dad is really important to him. He is an adult and has to make his own decisions. As long as the intention is for the sword to remain on the outside of his step dad, don't worry about it.

It is just as dumb as when women go out and buy a bunch of shoes and purses. Don't make a big deal about it. The gift is coming from his heart, don't make him feel like crap for getting it.
