Pros and cons:

Singleaction: Safer; as the gun cannot be fired unless the hammer is first ******. Trigger pull is light; as the trigger is only releasing the hammer and not cocking it. But slower to shoot, as the hammer must be manually ****** for each shot.

Doubleaction: Quicker to shoot as pulling the trigger cocks the hammer and releases it. The hammer can also be ****** first (like a single action) and then released; which will result in a lighter trigger pull. When shooting in double action mode, the trigger pull is long and heavy as it has to cock the hammer.

Double-action only:
Same as Doubleaction; only without the ability to cock the hammer before firing. Therefore trigger pull is long and heavy for every shot. Good for self-defense, as there is no hammer spur to snag on clothing, and every trigger pull is consistently the same; long and heavy.

*So apparently yahoo is going to block out the word for pulling back the hammer to its position of greatest potential energy; in case you all were wondering.

Single Action: hammer must be manually ****** for each round fired. Theoretically, more accurate fire can be obtained, but slower to bring into action.

Double Action: Hammer moves back as trigger is pulled. Can also be manually ******.

Double Action Only: Hammer cannot be manually ******. Depending on the weapon, a long/hard trigger pull.
