I lost my wallet with credit cards a year or so ago. I cancelled all my cards and was also informed by my cc company to call equifax and report it will them.

I wish I never did this. I found my wallet in my work vehicle a few days later and informed equifax. I requested them to remove the flag they put on when I reported to them. It is still on there and I have to try to get it removed again

I actually had an arguement with a person from TransUnion today as they told me that this does not affect me at all. to that I say bllsh#t

I pay all my bills on time. I even got stiff by my ex and have to pay 225 every 2 weeks on loan and pay it all the time. I only make around 850 every 2 week so I know my credit is not a ptoblem

Anybody going though similiar problems.

In order to have a fraud alert removed from your credit file if placed at your request, you must send 2 pieces of ID, such as copy of DL and SS card with written request to remove. That is for your own protection, as anyone with your ID info could call and request that the alert be removed.
If the company where your credit was denied made their decision based on you having a fraud alert, you may want to check with them as to their policies, as this sounds ridiculous. When you put a fraud alert on your credit file, you are able to put your contact telephone number where potential creditors can call you to verify that you actually applied. It is up to the company where you apply for credit to call you to verify the application - not the responsibility of the credit reporting agencies.
I put a fraud alert on my credit file, and certainly would not want to have some fraud perpetrator call up Equifax and have it removed by a telephone request! It's there until I send ID proof and a written request.

LESLEY P is incorrect about having a claim against the credit bureau if you have been denied credit. The flag resulted from your actions. It can only be removed by WRITTEN request. Even then your problem is with the credit card issuer, not the credit bureau. They are only reporting what the creditor has told them.

If you make $850 every 2 weeks and pay $225 every 2 weeks on a single loan, your credit score is not the reason someone would deny you credit, your income is.

Try calling Fraud Alert and see if they still have it in their system. Most times when we report fraud alerts it only stays in the syste, for 90 days. Maybe calling them will help clear this up so you can get on with your life.
Fraud Alert: 1-800-525-6285
If it was reported to Fraud Alert, maybe it hasn't been taken off and you need to tell them. Try that, if it doesn't work, call back the companies and dispute the fact that your wallet is still not lost and you need your cards reactivated. Good Luck!

Did you submit the request in writing (there is a challenge form on their website)?

In addition, has this flag caused you to be refused credit. If so you have recourse against equifax.

Sounds to me it's just precautionary. Sort of a flag to lenders to make sure you are who you say you are when making credit applications so that your good name isn't sullied.
