What is the percentage of people in the U.S. with a Ph.D.?

According to the US Census (2005 community survey), 10% of the population had graduate/professional degrees...

As to the Ph.D.'s you can search the website below, but I imagine it would be in the 2-4% range for Ph.D.'s.

I don't imagine it any higher than that... which is good since we need people to do real work... :-)
