i had asimilar problem a while back and got in touch with the inland revenue. in my case my employer had been deducting the payments and listing them on my wage slip but not forwardinig it on. the guy from the inland revenue said that as i had reasonable grounds to believe that paye and national insurance payments were being made that it was my employer and not me that they would chase and possibly prosecute if necessary.
hope this helps

Find out which tax office your employer uses and call them and ask for a NI and tx breakdown. This will show you since the beginning of the financial year what has and has not been paid. By law you need to recieve a pay slip even if this is hand written and your employer should be abidding by that. I would bring this up with your line manager and make them aware that you are concerned! There are local advice centre which you can go to if your current employer doesnt have a union in place or if you are not a member of one. Contact Citizens Advice Bureua and they will be able to point you in the right direction. If you are on an emergency tax bracket then you could be paying over and may be due a rebate so ask the tax office to caluclate what you should be paying. There can be hefty fines and even a police caution of you evade your tax even if it not your fault so this is serious and you need to sort ot out as soon as possible. I hope this helps xx
