Physically its possible, but if the 4 pounder survives the breeding it will NOT survive the birthing!

While possible, it of course is not advisable. In a situation like this it would be best to have the dog spayed ASAP. If and it is a BIG IF the female was able to carry full term it would probably only be one puppy and she would probably have to have a c-section.
I have seen Lab/Dachshunds and in particular a female Scottish Terrier produce 3 pups and 2 that grew to be 75 lbs or so.

Poms usually need c-sections, regardless. Money For A C-Section = Thousands of Dollars Caring For A Stray = About One Thousand Dollars Getting a Spay = Hardly No more than $100 Hmmm...... Anyway... It's not too late to get an {{emergency}} spay. It'll cost less money than a C-Section & let the dog be happier & it'll help out in the long run.. A lot ETA: @Nick, no I know what i'm doing. It does vary by place but here it's $100 & I live in 2010 and since I adopted most of my dogs it was also $60 including the spay. Usually in most places it's hardly more $100. I know what i'm doing, but thanks...

My yorkshire terrier mated with our Old English Sheepdog several years ago and impregnanted her. Our local vet was so impressed and at the same time shocked with the whole thing that he paid a deposit to buy each and every pup when they were born!
Unfortunatley the pups died during and after the births (there were 5). There was nothing physically wrong with them, it was just one of those upsetting, unfortunate things.
So the answer to your question is YES it is possible!

If you think for a second that this has happened I would immediantely bring the female to the vet and have her spayed. If she was impregnanted it will be aborted and will be the best thing because she won't live through it and neither will the pups.

Yes, it doesn't matter the size anyway. But the 4lb dog wouldn't survive when they got close to having puppies.

Yes, but it will kill the 4lb dog.... Go to vet if this has happened or DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.....if this is what you are considering.
