Our grandkids are diabetics. I was told I can give them sugar but not too much. Should I just feed them brownies until they start going to sleep and then stop?

I'm a nurse. Please don't do this. There are too many non-sugar options today. Buy some Splenda and use this to bake with. Everybodys' bodies are different. Just a little sugar could be too much. Children with Diabetes are what we usually call "brittle". I'm an Acute Dialysis Nurse and I've seen first hand what this kind of thinking can do. I know its complicated and confusing. Please call a Registered Diabetic Nutritionist in your area for education. You can call your local hospital to get a list of numbers. Since you have access to the internet please do some research until you can meet with a nutritionist.

that is a stupid question. you shouldn't feed a diabetic sugar, yes it's ok for a little bit, but they should know their limits, and if they don't want any then don't give it to them.
it depends on the person as to how much they can take. some are more serious cases than others.

lol.. I wouldnt suggest that brownie thing! It all depends on the severity of thier diabetis, if they are on insulin, pills or just manage it with diet. you can buy sugar free candies, cookies and such at the grocery store. Dont sugar up the kids.. if they get sick or end up hospitalized you would never forgive yourself.

I don't think you should give them any sugar w/o knowing their limits that their parents set. Feed them something else instead of sugar till you're aware of how much is too much.

yes, the only way you can find out what your grandchilds limit is is by putting it to the test and pray to GOD you don't kill them
