Why is it that when you are in the kitchen cooking?

Why is is that when you are in the kitchen cooking and your significant other comes in wants to "test" the food? I cannot stand that. I have cooked in a multitude of restaurants and that is a no-no to "test" the food with your fingers. I got really mad about this and when he did it I wacked his finger and he got mad and said f*** you B****!!! Jeeez!!! Guys --people need to have respect for that. Also, respect not to wash hands or spit in the sink where food is prepared. This is totally unacceptable to me. Wait until the food is ready and then--just eat it. I assure you--I am one hell of a good cook. He got hurt 2 years ago and cannot smell or taste anything. Needs to stay out of my kitchen until it is ready.

omg i agree with you so much. all the time when im cooking people stand over me and try and test the food. it drives me crazy!!! i dont want to look like an idiot and yell at them so i just say "cant you wait until its ready be patient!" and the spitting thing..... damn cant you use the toilet or something????? i love my kitchen i hate people disrespecting my propery.
one thing that really pisses me off is when IM cooking and people (eg mother in law) will come in and test my food and tell me i have to add this or her son likes it like this. aaaggggghhhhh!!
I think some people are brought up to just help yourself to everything and anything in life.

I guess that's not an issue between my husband and myself. We both have cooked professionally and we know that in that setting there is no finger-tasting, but at home here it's a total non-issue. And if you can't wash your hands in the kitchen sink, does that mean you leave and go to the bathroom every 10 minutes? I just don't get it I guess. *shrug*

I guess the only annoying thing is when one of us is cooking in our tiny kitchen and we get in each other's way. It's a VERY tiny kitchen and bumping into each other and trying to get around me and the dishwasher can be a pain to get something from the fridge.

I agree with you on the fact that other people shouldn't taste your food until its done. But, you know as well as I do that you are constantly tasting the food as you're preparing it. Wheather it be with your fingers or a spoon. At home I find myself using my fingers more than I should, but at work its always with a plastic spoon. I keep several in my top pocket at all times. If he cant smell or taste anything why the heck is he sampling anyways. It will always be good to him!!!

I hate when people is asking around and trying to lift the lids and I'm in the cooking trying to get a meal done.
It doesn't gets to me that much, if when my significant other comes in, first asks what is for dinner and then for a little taste. I take the moment to explain the menu and then with a spoon or fork NOT WITH DIRTY FINGERS, I give a little taste followed by a smooch !!!

Even though his palate is of no actual consequence, he still wants to taste...one of your dishes may bring on a miracle! Why not keep the peace and set out a special tasting dish for him? No big deal about a taste in a saucer and a spoon. Invite him in and make him part of it...You control the kitchen...it's up to you to foster better habits!

Sounds more like a comment but, oh well.
Make sure dinner is served when he comes in from work. Then He can just sit down and. No fingers in the pie, so to speak.

If you can't do thet tell him in a nice way how you feel.

If he doesn't stop, make soup out of a can or dishes not so appetizing for a while.

I loveeeeeeeeee the teach. They permit Jenn communicate because of the fact she is great television. i think of Christina will win because of the fact i think like she merits it the main winning 9 annoying circumstances, yet i in my opinion like Petrossa and that i think of he has alot of expertise. i does not be upset by making use of the two of them winning. i'm basically happy Jenn isn't interior the best 2
