I'd say Scarborough. Probably even worse than Jane & Finch.

MOST of Scarborough is just as fine or better than any other place in Toronto or anywhere else in Canada for that matter !!! (for all the non-Torontonian Toronto-bashers !) My area is just as good or better than Rosedale, and we have wider streets and more spacious lawns and yards than Rosedale and Forest Hill

For such an attitude like yours, badmouthing, slanderous, proliferating ignorance and hate for Scarborough, I would definitely say the worst area of Toronto is wherever you are, and wherever you go. Wherever YOU are, thats the worst place in Toronto, the worst place in the world. You asked that way, so you deserve this answer.

By the way, what's the purpose for your question and rant against Scarborough ? Are you Phishing ? or just harrassing your neighbours ?

Lots of Scarborough hating going on here. Yes, there are parts of Scarborough that have extremely high crime rates (Orton Park and the area by the Zoo) but there are some very nice and, yes, very expensive areas of Scarborough too like "The Guild" and the Bluffs Area. If you don't believe me, check out E8 on MLS.CA. The worst area? I'd say Jane/Finch and Regent Park are two places to stay away from.

People who comment on Scarborough usually have no idea what they are talking about. It is a very large place and not all of it is dangerous. How can you compare a place so large to an intersection? Scarborough encompasses so many smaller neighbourhoods. (Malvern, the Guild, Agincourt.....) Not all of them are bad and not even the 'bad' places are all bad.
Have you even heard of Rexdale??
Scarborough gets a bad name but it is so much bigger than a lot of places. (you find it odd that a one intersection would have less crime than an entire city--formerly the city of Scarborough??)
There are a lot of new Canadians in Scarborough and a fair amount of poor families. Perhaps there is a bit of prejudice in the comments of many who hate Scarborough. (and finally I can see some people who have been to Scarborough and know it isn't so bad!!)
As for the guy who gets his information from reading the paper and watching the news--you would not be able to comment as knowingly as someone who has lived there and worked there. Do you believe everything on TV or in the newspaper? They only report negative things and only make an issue of where it occurs when it is in a place like Scarobrough.

Hello from Toronto: Ok, people yes I agree that Parts of Scraborough are bad BUT, not all of Scarborough is bad. There are areas in Scarborough that have some nice and expensive areas as well.
Jane- Finch I consider by far the worst area in all of Toronto. I consider Jane-Finch the hood!! Too many apts. in one area. Not a good idea to build soo many apts. so close together. Jane-Finch is in North York and most of North York is great except for Jane-Finch. It works the same way in Scarborough. It's in pocket areas.

Cheers from Scarborough!!
PS- Population of Scarborough is around 500,000 from East Lake Ontario to East Steeles Ave. That's a very large area!!

I agree with Lisa L. Scarborough is not like Jane and Finch. Area wise, Scarborough is much larger than Jane and Finch. I live in Scarborough and my area is relatively crime free, with nice residential streets and houses. I would rather be living here than Parkdale any day. There are good neighbourhoods and bad, no matter where you live in Toronto.

Jane and Finch is so overrated. It's is not that bad when you compare it to other areas in Toronto. I would say the whole Jane strip all the way up to Bloor is pretty sketchy. But if i had to pick a place, I would say somewhere in the downtown area.

A few awful areas of Toronto. But the three most notorious are Scarborough, Parkdale, and Jane-Finch.

But crimes committed in the Jane-Finch area are usually gang-related and the average person isn't going to find trouble here unless they're looking for it.

Best to just steer clear of Scarborough and Parkdale.

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE People. You can defend Scarborough (AKA Scarberia, Scompton, Scarlem) all you want and YES, there are a few descent areas of the place, but all-in-all Scarborough is the WORST area of Toronto. Jane/Finch is merely an intersection with lots of low-rental housing.

Also the Yorkdale area is kind of crappy, too.
