the border between pennsylvania and maryland IS the mason dixon line. there are signs on the major highways. i've seen them on the highway coming south off the Penn turnpike when you hit the maryland state line.

keep in mind though that most people in northern Maryland (Frederick, Hagerstown, etc) are NOT southerners. they're basically pennsylvania folks with a maryland address.

the true border between the north and south is the potomac river. virginia is definitely a southern dominion state through and through. maryland and west virginia are not true southern states.

I know of only one "true" marker...it is located in the extreme southwest corner of Delaware...literally in the 90 degree bend of the border with Maryland. Look at a Rand McNally road atlas and they show it there as a point of interest. It is an old stone marker, engraved with coordinates and some inscription about the Mason Dixon Line.

There is a marker on I-81 south, coming from Pennsylvania to Maryland.

NO, but when u do cross it in some states (where the line goes through the state) it says welcome to the south and vice versa
